I meant to post this earlier, but it slipped my mind. For those of you that know what BANS is, you may already know that the authors are ready to go when Ebay switches over from Commission Junction to their in-house handing of the affiliate program.
For those of you that don’t know what BANS is, I’ll give a brief description. It’s a scripting program that lets you set up a store using Ebay feeds to stock your store. It’s very simple to use, and most new users can usually set up their first store in about 30-45 minutes. There’s no need to know any programing, as the BANS software supplies templates, and you just select a template and the Ebay category(s) that you would like to use as products for your store. You’re able to use the program to set up as many stores as you want. It’s just a matter of having a domain to install it to, and having your PID (unique identification). Presently you just need to sign up as an affiliate with Commission Junction to become an Ebay affiliate (it’s free) and get your PID. Starting April 1, 2008, Ebay will be handling their program in-house, so you will need to sign up on Ebay then.
BANS is a very good way to get into eCommerce, as there are very few overhead costs involved. Once you purchase the BANS, the only other cost necessary would be for your domain and hosting. If you decide to go this route, I would suggest either BlueHost or HostGator for your hosting. Both of their services are second to none. I’ve been extremely happy with BlueHost, and I’m getting ready to add more domains, and I’m going to sign up with HostGator, just to have hosting with another geographically located service, just in case. BlueHost has all the redundancy, backup generators and the whole nine yards, but my luck, they’d get hit by a terrorist attack or something. I believe in being prepared, and I know from word-of-mouth that HostGator is the way to go.
Obviously, if you want your store to generate a good income, you’ll need traffic. The only other cost that could be incurred, would be if you decided to pay for some PPC ads or another method that involves charges. Although it’s not necessary, it always helps.
Since I’m already on the subject, I’ll also mention Site Build It ! again. I’ve mentioned it many times here before, but it’s because I know it’s unarguably the best system on the Internet today for making money. Don’t get me wrong, if you chose to go the BANS route, you can make money, possibly as much, possibly more than SiteSell’s Site Build It !. BUT, if you do decide to go with the SiteSell system, you’ve got everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, in once package.
The Site Build It ! system is just that, a total system, a package deal. It includes as good as hosting as you’ll get anywhere. Even my BlueHost and the HostGator packages have some limits, such as bandwidth for instance. With SiteSell, you get UNLIMITED SPACE and BANDWIDTH. The package that BlueHost offers has 1.5 Terra Bytes, which is HUGE, but if you got extremely lucky, as well as having your hard work payoff, it’s conceivable you could overshoot the limit. Of course if you ever need more space or monthly transfer with any of the other hosts, there’s an added fee.
Back to SiteSell, besides getting your hosting, you also get your domain included. Although that’s not a huge savings, it just shows you that it is a complete package. There are no add ons or upsells with SiteSell, like most all of the other companies that rely on other services for a big part of their income. Also, they have tremendous tools that will guide you through selecting your niche, if you don’t already have one, your keywords, everything. Go to SiteSell, watch their video tour, look over what they offer. They even have real live people that you can talk to (7) days a week from 11am-8pm EST. After you get going, they have a great forum that you can hang out in also, or just pop in when you have a question and need help. There’s not a single thing to lose to just see what they have to offer.
So, if you like the idea of being able to set up many stores easily, and want a separate host account, go with the BANS and BlueHost or HostGator. There’s many thousands of people doing it. Some guys have dozens of stores running on the BANS software.
If you want to have everything in one place, and an all inclusive package in the price, go with the Site Build It ! system and dedicate yourself to one store. There’s a lot to be said for concentrating on one site until you get it running smoothly and generating a good income. You can always add as many Site Build It ! stores as you want later on.
Lastly, if you decide to go with the SiteSell Site Build It ! system, please, please, read the guides very carefully, more than once. Don’t rush things. IT IS NOT A GET RICH QUICK SCAM, and shouldn’t be approached as such. It is a system that can and will work. It will take a little while to start having good traffic, even after things are set up, but your patience will be well rewarded.
