Problems with the ePN – Ebay You’re Making Me Crazy!!
Posted by: Jeff in Miscellaneous, tags: EBay, eBay Partner Network
Well, just after I thought I had found a really good affiliate program in the Ebay Partner Network, I’m starting to think maybe I spoke too soon. I won’t say anything bad about the program at this point, as I’m going to have to wait and see what the outcome is on my account being ‘expired’ (canceled). All this after I’ve been praising the ePN too. Hopefully I can be back on my soap box again soon.
What I will say is this, I had been registered with the ePN since April 1, 2008 and had not experienced any problems up until Friday August 8, 2008. When I attempted to login to my account to check my statistics, I was greeted with a ‘that email address or password is incorrect’, or something similar. he bottom line was…I had been dumped from the program.
I had not received any warning, explanation, or even notice that I had bee ‘expired’. I have sent an email to the ‘Network Team’, but as of yet have not received a reply. This is Sunday and I was booted on Friday (late), so in all fairness it will probably be until tomorrow before I get a reply (other than the automated one).
I was told in the automated reply that my email would be forwarded, but I went ahead and sent a separate, in-depth email to the appropriate address. We’ll see what they come back with.
Now then, the reason I felt it necessary to post on this immediately is because I was but one in a pool of many that was dropped from the program. Of the ones that have posted in the forums, they’ve all claimed to have done nothing wrong. I kind of think this is a normal response, but I doubt that everyone is innocent.
As I mentioned, I wasn’t given any kind of reason for having my account expired, just removed from the system, however, I have read that it seems most of the people that have received a reason were dumped for having ‘non-bona fide’ transactions, or running ‘malicious software’.
Having said that, I know that I’ve never caused any kind of shady transaction, not do I engage in the use of any type of malicious software. At least not knowingly, if there’s any ‘malicious software’ on my computer, it’s doing me harm and not installed by me to rip someone else off.
At this point I really can’t post a lot of specific information, just because I don’t have any. If I had to guess, I’d say that Ebay (ePN) probably has a program running to look out for any suspicious activity, and it’s far from doing what it’s intended to do. I’ve read that there are some people that are getting there accounts reinstated, so I have to believe that the ePN is trying to do the right thing.
I’ve read some of the frantic posts from some of those that have been expired, that Ebay’s just out to steal their money. Obviously, given even just a quick thought, one would realize how preposterous that is. Ebay is in the business of making money, but I can assure you that they don’t have any diabolical plan in place to have affiliates sign up so that they can steal their profits from them.
Hopefully I can post here tomorrow saying how great the ePN is in their infinite wisdom, and that I have been reinstated, but we’ll have to wait and see. I can promise you that I’ll just tell it like it is, regardless. I said I KNOW!! I wasn’t doing anything knowingly against the terms, and for sure nothing illegal, unethical or immoral, so I can’t believe that there could be any reason that I won’t be reinstated.
I’ve very anxious to hear the reason I was expired. I would have so much respect if I was sent an email from the ‘Team’, and it said, ‘Please forgive our mistake, there was a glitch in our system that caused some erratic behavior, and the cancellation of some accounts that were not in violation. Your account is now back in good standing’. Wouldn’t that just say a lot about any company, but really about Ebay since they have taken so much heat lately about some of their tactics, not to mention all the problems with the launch of the ePN ?
Again, we’ll see what the future brings. Check back here, I’ll post everything that I learn about the ePN accounts being expired, and the final outcome. Also, I should get it straight from the horse’s mouth since my account was one that was expired.
