I was just reading a few different blogs, and most of the bigger name guys make an effort to present good content. Before I say anything else, I know my blog doesn't have a custom designed theme, and some of the

other things most people get when they start making some decent money from their blog. However, I do at least proofread my posts before I publish them. Why would someone that has thousands of readers not care enough to correct simple typos ? I know some people don't know when to use 'to' - 'too' or sometimes even 'two'. Just try and make an effort to get things presentable. I'm sure a 'real' writer could pick this post apart to the point there would be nothing left, but I do try.

Although I haven't mastered the English language, and at this point (I'm 47), I'm pretty sure I never will, but I do at least try and put out something that doesn't read like a second grader wrote it (and didn't proof it). Not to single the guy out, but I was at ShoeMoney.com one time, and I can't believe that guy has actually made money blogging ! With all the typos and extremely pitiful use of the language, I'm surprised anyone stayed long enough to read what he had to say. It's not a blog I follow, and I've only been there a hand full of times. Maybe it's different now (from a couple of weeks ago), or maybe I read some posts that were written by 'guest bloggers', I don't know. What I do know however, is when I read the little that I did, I was completely turned off to want to look at anything else that may have been there.

My point here is this, your blog is a reflection of you, your personality, and your values. I'm sure the theme of my blog isn't popular with a lot of readers. I've always kind of marched to the beat of a different drummer I guess, when it comes to all things visual (taste wise). As my girlfriend says, I have no taste. :) That's probably true...BUT, I do try and at least check the spelling of what I type!! I know it's fairly difficult, with the spell checker and all, but I'm willing to go the extra mile.

I understand lots of blogs are also authored by individuals that have a language other than English as their primary language, and I completely have no problem there. Obviously not all translator programs work 100% correctly, and the English language is very hard to learn as a second language. I can at least have respect for those making the effort, but make an effort if English is your primary language too. It's just really sad when a native speaker doesn't care enough about his readers to even take a glance at what's going out to the public. So just remember, the readers of your blog aren't stupid, they will pick up very much from what, and how you write. If you don't care enough to take an extra minute or two to try and put out a decent, reasonably grammatically correct document, you will lose readers. I think if I was making the money some of these guys are advertising they make, I'd at least have someone on my staff that could make sure there was a good product I was putting my name on.
